Experience the heart of Morocco’s High Atlas Mountains like never before with our 4-day Toubkal trek. Immerse yourself in the wilderness, and explore some of the most breathtaking locations, including the picturesque Imlil Valley at 1,740 meters, the Sidi Chamarouch shrine, and the majestic summit of Mount Toubkal at 4,167 meters.
Day 1: Marrakech to Imlil Valley – Trek Commences
Your journey begins with a pickup from your Marrakech accommodation, followed by a scenic 1-hour and 30-minute drive to the starting point of your adventure, Imlil Valley at 1,700 meters. Upon your arrival, our local team will greet you and lead you to a guesthouse. Here, you’ll be welcomed with a refreshing mint tea and receive an introduction to the itinerary for your 4-day Toubkal trek. Afterward, set out on an acclimatizing hike to Tizi Mzik Pass at 2,489 meters, where a sumptuous lunch, prepared by a dedicated cook, awaits you. Post-lunch, return to your Imlil lodge via the same route, where you’ll spend the night. This day involves approximately 4 hours of walking.
Day 2: Ait Mizane Valley to Toubkal Refuge
Following a satisfying breakfast at your lodge, your trek continues through the Ait Mizane Valley, leading you to the charming village of Aremd and the revered Sidi Chamarouch shrine at 2,400 meters. The village offers an enchanting sight beside a small waterfall, with houses that seem to meld into an intricate tapestry. Your day includes a lunch break, and then the trail climbs steadily as it zigzags its way to the Toukbal Refuge at 3,206 meters, your haven for the night. This leg of the journey takes approximately 5 to 6 hours of walking.
Day 3: Summiting Jebel Toukbal and Returning to the Refuge
Early in the morning, after breakfast, you’ll embark on the exhilarating ascent of Jebel Toukbal, taking the south cirque route. You’ll traverse streams above the refuge and cross numerous scree fields, making your way steadily to the summit at 4,167 meters. While the path is relatively straightforward, the scree terrain and high altitude add challenges to your journey. However, the breathtaking views along the way make every effort worthwhile. The summit rewards you with panoramic vistas of the High Atlas Mountains. After a brief respite at the pass, you’ll retrace your steps, returning to the refuge at 3,207 meters for lunch and another overnight stay. Expect about 6 to 7 hours of walking this day.
Day 4: Descend to Imlil Valley and Return to Marrakech
On your final day, you’ll make your way back down to Imlil Valley, retracing your steps from the previous days. Upon reaching Imlil, you’ll enjoy lunch before embarking on a 1-hour and 30-minute drive back to Marrakech, where your unforgettable 4-day Toubkal trek concludes.
